Lovers of cured meats and those who appreciate a good graze should be pleased to hear that a new charcuterie shop has opened in Hamilton.

Barton Salumeria and Charcuterie, formerly Stinson Salumeria, has opened the doors to its new storefront at 357 Barton St. E.

The team at Barton Salumeria specialize in curating grazing boxes and charcuterie boards with products sourced within Hamilton and from Ontario farmers and producers.

Some of the meats are cured by the team itself, who launched the business after taking the craft up as a hobby at home.

They started offering their curing expertise and eventually their carefully curated, picture-perfect grazing boxes with the community last year via social media and they quickly gained popularity.

So much so, that they were able to make their dream of opening a shop a reality far sooner than they originally planned.

“Now we want to push ourself from a hobby side hustle idea into a serious business where we can offer products to you,” the owners wrote in the introduction on their website.

“Our plans for the next five years is to open a small salumeria shop, one where we can continue our craft of producing charcuteries & fromages for retail & home consumer sales.”

Earlier this month, Barton Salumeria announced that they were ready to open their storefront and they’d changed their name to reflect this important milestone.

“We’re so excited to finally announce to you all our big move to Barton St. E. in the Barton Village!,” an Instagram post said.

“We are having such a fun time getting this space ready, we can’t wait to share it with you all.”

Ontario’s stay-at-home order issued not long afterwards put a bit of a damper on things but Barton Salumeria is still offering pick up and delivery options.
