Hamilton workers in licensed child care settings will become eligible for their COVID-19 vaccination this week.

“In alignment with Provincial direction, effective Thursday, April 29, 2021, child care workers in licensed child care settings will be eligible to book an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccination,” a Hamilton Public Health Service (HPS) press release issued Tuesday said.

“In the coming weeks, eligibility will be expanded to child care workers in unlicensed child care settings across the province.”

Those who are eligible will receive a letter from their employer which will be required when booking and attending the vaccine appointment.

Appointments can be booked by calling the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line number at 1-833-943-3900.

“Appointment availability through Hamilton’s large-scale clinics is limited at this time,” the release said.

“More appointments will be available in the system early next week.”

To date, approximately 180,169 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Hamilton, accounting for 32.2 per cent of eligible residents.
