Lengthy drug investigation nets six suspected traffickers in Hamilton and Niagara

Following a lengthy investigation, Hamilton Police say they have arrested four people suspected of trafficking drugs.

Following a lengthy investigation, Hamilton Police say they have arrested four people suspected of trafficking drugs.

The investigation began back in October, police say. As a result of the information gathered, Police formed grounds to seek warrants to search three residences in the Hamilton, Binbrook and Grimsby areas.

On January 17, 2020, police entered a residence on East 34th Street in Hamilton and located prohibited weapons and a number of drugs. Two men were located inside.

As a result of the evidence uncovered, Domenic Mamone and Matthew Casarsa have been charged criminally and held pending a bail hearing.

Both Hamilton residents are facing a slew of charges:

Domenic Mamone (47-years-old)
Possession for the Purpose Trafficking- Opioid
Possession for the Purpose Trafficking – Other Drugs
Proceeds of Crime Under $5000
Possession of Prohibited Weapon x 2
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

Matthew Casarsa (34-years-old)
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid x 2
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs x 2
Proceeds of Crime under $5000
Possession of Prohibited Weapon x 2
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin x 2
Proceeds of Crime under $5000
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

On Jan. 17 as well, Niagara Police assisted with a drug warrant at a residence on Ontario Street in Grimsby. The residents were not home at the time but police located drugs and cash inside.

As a result of the evidence located and seized and the following Grimsby residents are charged with a number of offences. A warrant was issued Tuesday (Jan. 21) for their arrest. Charged are:

Michael Halliday (32-years-old)
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid
Possession of Cocaine
Possession of – Other drugs
Proceeds of Crime Under $5000

Olivia Krusell (27-years-old)
Proceeds of Crime under $5000
Possession for the Purpose Trafficking – Opioid
Possession of – Cocaine
Possession of – Other drugs

Hamilton Police say they entered a residence on Degrow Court in Binbrook on Jan. 17 and located drugs. Two men were arrested at the time.

The Binbrook residents face the following charges:

Dwayne Smith Sr. (60-years-old)
Possession of Cocaine x 2
Possession of Prohibited Weapon
Possession of Opioid
Released on an Undertaking and expected to attend court on February 12, 2020

Dwayne Smith Jr. (38-years-old)
Possession of – Opioid
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs
Released on an Undertaking and expected to attend court on March 4, 2020.
