Ancaster landmark the Rousseau House Restaurant and Lounge announced this week that they will be closing their doors on Nov. 8.

To celebrate the end of an era, the restaurant will be hosting a party their last day, from 4 p.m., that will feature live music, food, and $4 8oz Brewers Blackbird Beer.

As we say goodbye to an old friend, though, we will have the chance to welcome a new culinary and craft brewery destination.

Once Rousseau House’s doors close for the last time, a transformation of the space will begin and just in time for the holiday season, The Brewer’s Blackbird Kitchen and Brewery will open.

“At The Blackbird, we are passionate about your experience,” their website says. “We may be small but we have big dreams… our goal is to combine our obsession of making great beer and great food to create memorable experiences. We are ready to make this a moment to remember.”

It is a bittersweet feeling to finally be saying this; The Rousseau House will be closing its doors on Friday, November 8th, 2019 Our new home @brewersblackbird will open just in time for the Holiday Season! This means that there are limited chances remaining to enjoy all that is Rousseau House! We have decided to throw one last party to celebrate all the good times brought to us by Rousseau House and give this space a proper send off. What better way to do that but with live music, great food, beer and even better people!? @__lindsay__nicole__ and @darlingtonunderground will be bringing their set to rock the Brewery! Both bands have roots sewn deeply in the Rousseau House and we can’t wait to have them here. We will be closed during the daytime to prepare for the event and the party will begin at 4pm until late – entertainment beginning around 7pm! Food and Beverage will be served inside with access to festivities through our (shhhhhh!) secret entrance.. We will be offering $4 8oz pints of Brewers Blackbird Beer in the Brewery and various snacks available inside. Enjoy offerings like wood fired pizza, sliders and other delicious treats. Other adult beverages are available too. It may also be your final opportunity to get some of your old Rousseau House favorites while you peruse the Brewer’s Blackbird menu and plan your future favourites! The kitchen and bar will be open late in the hopes of squeezing out every last drop of good times the Rousseau House provides, both for you and us. So put on your dancing shoes and get ready to say good bye to the Rousseau House and welcome in the Brewers Blackbird. So while many will be sorry to see the Rousseau House go, there is still time to enjoy its ambience and world-class cuisine and the owners make it seem like their tradition of quality, service and innovation will still rule the day at this location.

An Instagram post announcing the change says the party will likely “be your final opportunity to get some of your old Rousseau House favourites while you peruse the Brewer’s Blackbird menu and plan your future favourites!”
