Rise Above Pizza is celebrating their Grand Opening this Friday, Saturday and Sunday by offering cheap pints, prizes and pizza.

The restaurant, which is Hamilton’s ‘first and only vegan pizzeria’ will feature a special appetizer, Pepperoni Pizza Rolls, special giveaways for those who wear a costume, post to social media, or get a high score on one of their arcade or pinball games.

Rise Above takes over the space previously occupied by Knead Pizza, which closed its doors this past summer.

Back in August, it was announced via Facebook that Rise Above Restaurant & Bakery, an all-vegan restaurant and bakery based in St. Catharines, would be opening a location in Hamilton and replacing Knead.

This is Rise Above’s second location but the concept here is different than the resto in St. Catharines as it’s the company’s “modernized and veganized take on a classic pizzeria,” a Facebook post from August says.

Adding to the classic pizzeria ambience, for the classic gaming nerd, is a couple of pinball and arcade games.

So far, Rise Above’s Seitan (a wheat-based meat substitute) Wings seems to be getting a lot of attention on social media, but their pizzas look absolutely mouthwatering. Their Steeltown Pizza (pictured above) for example, features seitan pepperoni, mushrooms, and crumbled seitan bacon.

Customers will have the option to eat-in, take-out or order delivery.
