Hamilton’s Top 5 Places to go for Breakfast

Published September 19, 2019 at 5:57 pm

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day in Hamilton, and whether that’s true or not we’re not going to argue with the statement.

Regardless, there’s no denying that breakfast food is often superior to the food we enjoy at lunch or dinner (maybe it’s just me?).

But come on, who can argue with pancakes, waffles, and bacon and eggs…. drool!

Luckily, the City of Hamilton does not fall short when it comes to incredible breakfast places.

And we’ve narrowed down our favourites just for you.

Here are the top five places to go for breakfast in Hamilton.

5. The Bedrock Bistro

This Flintstones-themed restaurant is an incredible place to go for breakfast in the city and it deserves to be talked about more.

Thus, we’re putting it on our list.

If the name alone doesn’t entice you then the menu definitely will. The all-day breakfast menu features Bedrock’s All Day Breakfast (two large eggs, four strips of bacon or sausage, Bedrock home fries, and toast and jam), homemade crepes, bacon and egg waffles, French toast, and pancakes, just to get your taste buds watering.

Another feature that makes this restaurant top-notch is the prices – they can’t be beat!

4. Jax Sweet Shoppe

Jax Sweet Shoppee made it onto our list of top five places to go for something sweet in Hamilton. Now, it’s back again and for a good reason. While at Jax, customers won’t just find the traditional restaurant breakfast options they’re used to. Jax has much more to offer.

Of course, breakfast-lovers (everyone) can still find the traditional breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage or ham, roasted potatoes and sourdough bread), however, the menu also features savory crepes (with egg, spinach, feta, turkey or ham, goat cheese, roasted veggies, and more), smoked salmon eggs benedict, French cinnamon toast, just to name a few of the many mouth-watering items.

Not only is the food at Jax delicious but the atmosphere of the entire place is incredible too. As you’re eating your meal the décor and style of the restaurant will make you feel as if you’re eating breakfast in the 90s again.

3. Saint James Espresso Bar & Eatery

Saint James Espresso Bar & Eatery has been a hotspot in the city for quite some time now and for a good reason (every weekend at least one person I follow on Instagram posts a picture of their delicious-looking food at Saint James).

This restaurant gets points for the quality of food and its presentation (totally Insta-worthy).

A few menu options offered by Saint James include bacon and eggs, the Early Bird Oatmeal, Winterberry Shortstack (three buttermilk pancakes, fresh blackberries, with an Earl Grey glaze, sliced almonds, and maple syrup), and a breakfast burger with frites.

The coffee and espresso-based drinks are also worth testing while you’re there.

2. Taylor’s Tea Room

Whenever I go to Dundas, for some reason, I always feel relaxed and cozy, which is exactly the vibe that Taylor’s Tea room gives off.

Although this may not be the place to go if you’re looking for a hardy breakfast it is definitely still worth checking out … especially if you’re a tea fanatic.

Taylor’s Tea Room offers a huge (no exaggeration) tea selection including a variety of black teas, green teas, as well as white tea, oolong, tea lattes, and more.

A few food options include the Full English (farm eggs, 10-day cured house smoked bacon, peameal, sausage, house-bake beans, chips, and sourdough), the Breakfast Sandwich (farm egg, peameal, English cheddar, tomato and greens on an English muffin with chips), and the Potato Rösti (sunny eggs, peameal, salsa verde, seared tomato and hollandaise atop a Yorskshire pudding with chips).

1. Motel Restaurant

Another place with delightful food that is completely Instagram worthy!

The MOTEL Ooey Gooey Cheesy French toast is a personal favourite (classic French toast with a melted three cheese blend, sugar bacon, and served with maple syrup).

Another noteworthy menu options include the Blue Moon Hotcakes (buttermilk hotcakes topped with marshmallow vanilla Chantilly, blueberry compote, vanilla honey buttery and chopped bacon), and the breakfast BLT (sugar bacon with stewed tomatoes, Boston lettuce, over medium eggs, served with frites).

Motel Restaurant will serve all your breakfast and brunch needs and provide you with the perfect Insta-opportunity.
