Hamilton’s Top 5 Places to get a Burger

Burgers are one of those wonderous foods that can please everyone.

Burgers are one of those wonderous foods that can please everyone.

No really, just think about it for a second…burgers can please everyone. You can opt for a classic burger, a veggie burg, or even a burger with a lettuce bun.

Let’s face it, no matter what your preference is, or what your dietary restrictions are, there’s a burger out there for you.

And the City of Hamilton has turned me into quite a burger snob. There are so many incredible places to get a burger in Hamilton that it’s hard to please me anywhere else.

Here are the top five places to get a burger in Hamilton.

5. Delirious Burger Co.

This independently owned burger joint actually has two locations in the city, one in Westdale and one on Locke Street South. And at both locations simplicity, while still managing to make your mouth water, is key.

You’re not going to find overly complicated burgs at this joint (and sometimes that’s exactly what you need). Delirious Burger Co. is an excellent place if you’re craving a good ol’ fashioned tasty hamburger.

4.   Pinks Burgers

The Pinks Burgers website notes that the restaurant strives to create an environment where complete guest satisfaction is the highest priority, and only to use the best ingredients. And let me be the first to say, that Pinks achieves this and goes above and beyond!

Pinks offers a single burger, a double burger, a little burger, and (one of my personal favourites) a black bean burger. You can also choose to add an extra patty, or cheese (or double cheese – um, yes please!), bacon (or, you guessed it, double bacon).

Pinks also offers a wide variety of toppings including pickles, grilled onions, hot sauce, jalapenos, and more.

If you need something to go with your burger, Pinks offers fries, poutine, cheese fries, and milkshakes.

3. The Burnt Tongue

Don’t let the name scare you away!

Although it’s mainly known for its soup, The Burnt Tongue is also a great place to stop by if you’re looking for a good burger.

At The Burnt Tongue, which also has two locations in the city (one on Cannon Street East and another on Locke), the burgers are simple but sweet (and appetizing). At this restaurant, burger lovers can find classic burgers with ketchup, mustard, mayo, onions, and pickles (single or double) and deluxe burgers with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and The Burnt Tongue’s special sauce (also single or double).

Customers can also add cheese, bacon, fried onions, or pickled jalapenos for just $1.

2.   The Ship

Whether you’re from Hamilton, or just visiting, The Ship is a must and as soon as you bite into one of the restaurant’s burgers you’ll see why.

The Ship is one of those places that caters to everyone. Here you’ll find a classic burger (The Plain Jane), however, there are some incredibly unique and some may even say wacky (but delicious) options.

Some of these options include The Hawaiian (grilled pineapple with cheddar, bacon, and ranch), The Northern Exposure (bacon, aged cheddar, spiced pecans, and maple mayo), Bud The Spud (American cheese, bacon, crispy potato strings, sour cream, and green onion), and one of my personal favourites The French Onion (gruyere, caramelized onions and mushrooms, and bacon).

The Ship also offers house-made quinoa and black bean vegetarian patties, and gluten-free buns.

Is your mouth watering yet?Mine is.

1. Hambrgr

Hambrgr – the restaurant name may be missing a few letters but the burgers aren’t missing a thing. This restaurant, like The Ship, is another hamburger hotspot that caters to everyone’s wants and needs (at least when it comes to burgers).

The past couple of times I have gone to Hambrgr I have gotten the 3 AM in Venice. Even though I know I should try something new, I always come back for more. The 3 AM in Venice (the name alone is just so enticing) features smoked mozzarella, marinated vine ripe tomato, basil pesto aioli, peppery arugula, and a balsamic glaze – yum!

However, if Italy isn’t your thing, there are many more menu options. A few of these options include the Classic (lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and ketchup and mustard), the #Hamont (double ¼ pound patties with grilled onions, American cheese, mustard glazed bacon, and more), The Nacho Man (a carne asada rub with nacho cheese, smashed avocado, jalapenos, pickled onion, crispy tortilla strips, and more).

But, regardless of what you order Hambrgr does not disappoint!
