Patricia Smith of Hamilton won a top prize with the Bigger Spin Instant Game from OLG.
The 55-year-old grandmother discovered she would spin the wheel when she brought her ticket to a retailer. “Another customer asked if they could watch me play my ticket, and we both stood there and watched the wheel on the customer display unit land on Bigger Spin. I thought I was going to pass out,” she shared, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her cheque. “Happy tears started to flow down my cheeks and I started to jump up and down!”
Patricia won $550,000. The winning ticket was purchased at Cannon Variety on Sherman Ave in Hamilton.
I’ve been waiting for someone to wake me up and smack me. This can’t be real,” she smiled. “I’ve never had this much money before, so I don’t know how this is supposed to feel.”
Patricia said she plans to buy a house and live comfortably while continuing to take care of her grandkids.
“My oldest granddaughter suddenly passed away in January and I feel like this is a gift from up above to ensure her siblings have a good life,” she concluded.
The Bigger Spin instant game costs $10 and combines scratch play with prizes revealed in-store by an animated spinning wheel on the lottery terminal screen.
The OLG Prize Centre in Toronto is now accepting in-person prize claim appointments for winning-ticket holders of $10,000 or more. Appointments for prizes of this value will be granted if requested, however, prizes up to $49,999.90 do not have to be claimed in-person.
