There is still a chance to sign up if Tuesday’s late-afternoon downpour kept you from registering from a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic in central Hamilton.

A group of community ambassadors will be at Carter Park (32 Stinson St.) and Corktown Park (175 Ferguson Ave. S.) on Wednesday (June 9) to register Hamilton residents age 12 and up to receive a dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. They plan to be at Carter Park from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and in Corktown till 8 p.m.. Arabic-English translators will be available.

The appointments will be at the Central Memorial Recreation Centre (93 West Ave. S.) between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Appointments for that clinic can also be booked by calling Hamilton Public Health at 905-974-9848 (option 7).

Eligibility is open to people who have not had their first doses, or those eligible for second dose vaccines. The second group includes residents over age 70, health-care workers, and people who had their first dose on or before April 18.

On Tuesday, Hamilton’s new COVID-19 case count hit a 7½-month low of 14. However, the city’s 6.1 per cent positivity rate is more than twice Ontario’s 2.7 per cent provincial average.

Hamilton’s Youth Wellness Centre is also hosting by-appointment clinics thoughout the next few days.
