A 14-year-old from Hamilton is facing charges of assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, and uttering threats (x2), according to Hamilton Police Service (HPS).

HPS says their investigation began in Nov. 2019 after another youth came forward and reported that they had been the victim of an assault.

“The police investigation revealed that the offences occurred in June 2017 and in January 2019,” according to HPS. “At the time of these offences the victim did not report the matter to police due to fear”.

Police said the victim only reported the matter to police after learning that the accused youth was in custody for an unrelated incident, which CBC reports was the stabbing death of Devan Selvey

In June 2017, the victim reportedly attended a residence in the east end of Hamilton with several other parties.

“While at the residence, an altercation occurred between the victim and the accused,” said police. “The accused assaulted the victim with a weapon, threatened the victim and forcibly held the victim against his will”.

“The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and later sought medical attention after leaving the scene of the assault”.

The second incident reportedly occurred in Jan. 2019, where during the course of an argument, the victim was allegedly threatened by the accused 14-year-old.
