Hamilton is getting a wintry walloping Monday (Nov. 11), and it’s affecting some services around the city.

The city says their winter roads crews are already out responding with de-icing materials/sand/salt on the escarpment accesses and priority one roads and are monitoring forecasts and pavement conditions on an ongoing basis.

Here are some city programs being impacted so far:

  • HSR is running as scheduled. TransCab and DARTS are both providing regular service. For updates, check @HSRnow.
  • Waste collection will occur today.
  • Sexual Health Clinics: East End Clinic is closing early at 3 pm. The Mountain Clinic is closed today.
  • Waterdown Flu Clinic is cancelled this evening.
  • The Van Needle Syringe program is cancelled this evening.

During heavy snowfalls, property owners are encouraged to assist the snow removal crews by:

  • Getting vehicles off the streets and parking in your driveway
  • Not parking in a spot that has a Snow Route, No Stopping or No Parking sign
  • Keeping all catch basins clear of snow and ice for proper drainage during a thaw
  • Keeping fire hydrants clear and visible
  • Staying back at least 25 metres from snow plows, sanders and other equipment so the operator can see you
  • Staying behind snow plows. Passing a plow is dangerous

UPDATE: All gym programs inside @HWDSB schools are cancelled due to weather Monday night after 6 p.m.; including Dalewood, Riverdale, Hill Park, Ryerson, MacNab, Laurier, Churchill, Beasley Community Centre and Norman Pinky Lewis.
