Hamilton residents will have to stay home two more weeks, outoor activities will begin on June 2

Hamilton will join the rest of Ontario by remaining under a stay-at-home for another two weeks.

Premier Doug Ford announced Thursday (May 13) that the current lockdown measure — which was to expire on May 20 — will be extended to June 2.

This move essentially shuts down any outdoor activities that were anticipated for the upcoming Victoria Day long weekend as Ontario health officials believe gatherings during the holiday will contribute to the spread of COVID-19.

“If we manage the next few weeks I think we can have a good summer,” Ford during a press conference.

However, the premier did say he was prepared to loosen restrictions on outdoor activities once the stay-at-home order ends on June 2.

The premier also said people as young as 12 will be able to start receiving COVID-19 vaccines by May 31.
