Hamilton Police warn public about prescription drugs stolen from local pharmacy

Hamilton Police are investigating after a large number of prescription drugs was stolen from a pharmacy this week.

In a press release issued Thursday (August 27), Hamilton Police said during the early hours of Wednesday, August 26, suspects broke into a pharmacy in the Stoney Creek area.

A large number of narcotics were stolen and their whereabouts are not known at this time and police are concerned as improper consumption of the drugs could be fatal. The risk is especially high in the case of children, the release said.

The total street value of the stolen narcotics is estimated to be more than $50,000.

Hamilton Police are reminding the public that taking medication that is not prescribed for you can be very dangerous. If you find lost or discarded medication, do not touch it, contact police.

Police have not released any more details about this incident at this time.
