At Central Police Station on Thursday, Hamilton Police Services Board Chair Mayor Fred Eisenberger announced the appointment of as the new Deputy Chief of Police.
At Central Police Station on Thursday, Hamilton Police Services Board Chair Mayor Fred Eisenberger announced the appointment of as the new Deputy Chief of Police.
“We looked across the country for the right candidate for our Deputy Chief and we are pleased to say we found the best candidate within our own service,” said Eisenberger. “Ryan’s exemplary skills and reputation as an excellent police leader will serve the City of Hamilton exceptionally well for the future.”
Diodati is a 23-year member of Hamilton Police Service. Most recently, he served as the Superintendent of Investigative Services. He has served in a number of different areas of the police service including the Emergency Response Unit, Public Order Unit and the Domestic Violence Resource Unit.

He has also acted as command lead on several multi-jurisdictional major case management investigations partnering with domestic and international law enforcement agencies.
Diodati has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Niagara University. He also graduated from the University of Toronto Joseph L. Rotman School of Management Police Leadership Program and the FBI National Academy United States Department of Justice, University of Virginia.
Diodati assumes the Deputy Chief position that has been vacant since July 2019, when former Deputy Chief Dan Kinsella left to become Chief of Halifax Regional Police Service.
“Ryan is a dedicated police leader who is committed to community-based policing and in fostering and enhancing partnerships in our community,” said Chief Eric Girt. “We know his strong leadership skills will be an asset to our leadership team.”
Diodati officially starts in his new position on Sunday.
