Hamilton Police seek public’s help in cracking cold case

Hamilton Police are asking the public for help in cracking a cold case break and enter.

The incident under investigation happened in the early morning hours of January 11, 2019.

The incident under investigation happened in the early morning hours of January 11, 2019.

Police say that shortly after 4:30 a.m., they received a report of a break and enter in progress at H&Z Diamond Centre, located at 1142 Wilson St. W in Ancaster.

Officers immediately responded to the scene but the suspect(s) involved had already fled.

Through the investigation, police say that detectives from the Bear Unit have learned a black and white pick-up truck was used to damage the building in which the jewelry store is located, allowing the suspect(s) to enter the store and remove more than $43,000 in various jewelry items.

Hamilton Police have collected surveillance footage which captured the vehicle involved along with a man who is believed to have been involved with the robbery.

Over the past year, the investigation has taken several directions. Detectives have exhausted efforts in attempting to identify the parties responsible and are now seeking assistance from the public.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Moustache/goatee
  • 25 – 35 years-of-age
  • Thin build
  • Black jacket
  • Black Air Jordan track pants
  • Red hoodie with the hood up
  • Black gloves
  • Black baseball cap on backwards
  • Black high top basketball shoes with red laces

The suspect vehicle is described as:

  • Black Chevy Silverado pick-up Truck with extended cab
  • White hood and roof
  • Black Sabbath logo on the back and orange trailer lights on the roof
