Hamilton Police are appealing to the public in an effort to identify a potential witness to a double murder that took place earlier this year.

Hamilton Police Major Crime Detectives said in a press release issued Monday (Oct. 26) that they continue to investigate the double murder of Jahmal Thomas and Rhonda Homsombath which occurred on March 8, 2020, at Sam’s Urban Lounge on Barton Street E.

Police say they continue to seek witnesses in the case and believe there are people who have not come forward to offer assistance.

“Police have exhausted attempts to identify the male depicted in the released video,” they said in the release.

“Police are asking this male to come forward and speak to investigators, as he may have information which could benefit the investigation.”

The man is believed to have been a friend of the victim, Thomas, and attended Zen Lounge and then Sam’s Urban Lounge with the him. This unidentified man is a witness only and police are pleading for him to “do the right thing” and come forward.

Additionally, investigators say they now believe, based on evidence, that more than one gun was fired at the time of the murder.

They say they cannot comment on specifics as to who is believed to have fired the guns for the time being.

Hamilton Police encourage anyone with information to come forward and contact Det. Daryl Reid at 905-546-3825.
