Hamilton Police search for witness to daylight shooting on busy Mountain road

Detectives Hamilton Police Division 30 say they are looking to speak with the driver of a car who may have witnessed the shooting on Mohawk Road East that happened last Friday (Oct. 2).

Detectives say the driver of a black Ford Escape, believed to be present at the time of the shooting, may have information that can assist with the investigation and they are urging the person to come forward.
Police continue to review video surveillance from the public and encourage business owners and area residents to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity and to contact detectives.
The incident in question took place Friday afternoon when, shortly before 1 p.m., police received reports of a head-on collision.

Police say the cause of the crash was a shooting.
The victim was reportedly driving westbound down Mohawk Road when a car pulled up beside him and opened fire. The driver then lost control of the car and veered into oncoming traffic and struck another car head-on.
According to police, the driver of the shot-up car sustained life-threatening injuries but is recovering. The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries.
On Saturday (Oct. 3) shortly after 10:00 p.m., Hamilton Police say they located an abandoned white Kia 4-door vehicle in a parking lot in the area of Ferrie Street East and John Street North. The vehicle had extensive damage as a result of points of impact and a fire.
Detectives have confirmed the vehicle was involved in the incident. The vehicle was reported stolen to police prior to the shooting.
At this time police continue to search for suspects.
