Hamilton Police search for man with ‘violent tendencies’

Wanted: Farhan Muktar — Police Handout

Hamilton Police are searching for a local man wanted in connection to a street robbery that took place over the weekend.

In a press release issued Monday (Nov. 23), police say it is believed 32-year-old Farhan Muktar was involved in a street robbery on Sunday.

Police say a woman was assaulted, her purse was stolen and, at the time, Muktar was allegedly in possession of a knife, though the victim was physically unharmed.

Detectives say that early investigation indicates that Sunday’s robbery was a targeted incident.

Since the incident, Hamilton Police say they have made attempts to locate and arrest Muktar without success. A warrant for his arrest has been granted by the court system recently

It is believed he is aware of the warrant and is actively evading police.

Muktar has demonstrated violent tendencies previously and Hamilton Police are asking the public that if he is seen, do not approach, contact 9-1-1 immediately.

Muktar is said to be 5’5” tall and weigh around 100 lbs. He is facing the following charges:

Robbery
Fail to Comply Probation x6
Disobey Court Order x3
