Hamilton Police make arrest in connection to unprovoked Waterdown stabbing

A 33-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested in connection to an unprovoked stabbing in Waterdown last week that sent a man to hospital.
In a press release issued Tuesday (March 30), Hamilton police say the unidentified suspect was apprehended on Monday (March 29) after a search warrant was executed.
The incident in question took place around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, March 22, in the area of John Street East and Main Street North in Waterdown, where police were called to reports of a stabbing.
The victim was reportedly walking with his spouse in the area when the suspect approached and stabbed him multiple times without provocation.
The spouse was knocked to the ground during the incident and she received minor injuries. The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police appealed for help from the public in identifying the suspect captured in surveillance footage.

The 33-year-old suspect has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon and is expected to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
“Hamilton Police would like to thank the residents of Waterdown for their assistance in contacting police and providing information to assist in this investigation,” police said in the release.
