Hamilton Police look to identify suspects in SUV arson

Hamilton Police are reaching out to members of the public to determine the identity of two suspects in a fire that destroyed an SUV in August.

In a press release issued Monday (Sept. 21), police say that on Sunday, August 20, 2020, shortly after 8:00 p.m., they responded for a car fire at 1565 Barton St. E.

The vehicle, a 2011 Ford Escape SUV was destroyed by the fire which was extinguished. After speaking with witnesses, police say detectives from the BEAR Unit are looking to identify two men who are believed to have been involved in the incident.

The first suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Caucasian
  • 30-40–years-of-age
  • Mustache/goatee
  • Light brown hair
  • Blue t-shirt ‘I am Canadian’
  • Black Helmet
  • Beige Shorts
  • White socks
  • Black/white sneakers

The second suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Caucasian
  • 30-40–years-of-age
  • Heavy build
  • Dark brown hair
  • Brown beard
  • Green/black checkered button-up shirt
  • Dark pants
  • Brown boots

Police say that the vehicle was reported stolen to police a day after the fire.
