Hamilton Police investigating an assault believe a witness may have important information.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 2 in the area of Sanatorium Rd. and Rice Ave. in what police believe was a road rage altercation.

Police say a physical altercation took place between a man who was walking on the sidewalk and another man who was operating a silver Dodge Caravan. Due to an unknown reason, the driver got out of his vehicle and verbally confronted the pedestrian. The situation escalated, the driver assaulted the pedestrian and then fled the scene. The pedestrian, a 60-year-old Hamilton man, later attended a local medical facility to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect they are looking for is described as:

  • Male
  • Caucasian
  • 5-foot-10 in height
  • 190 lbs weight
  • Short dark hair
  • Clean-shaven
  • Black a grey shirt with a stripe
  • Light coloured shorts

Detectives from the Mountain Division Criminal Investigations Bureau are investigating the incident. They believe a witness was in the area at the time of the incident and may have captured a photograph of the suspect and the license plate on his vehicle, prior to him fleeing the scene. They are appealing to that person or anyone else with information, to come forward.
