A 39-year-old man was found on the road by his wife and a neighbour outside his residence near West 4th Avenue and Richwill Road early Friday morning.

Around 6:30 a.m., Hamilton Police say they received a 911 call reporting a man lying on the road outside his residence.

Police, Hamilton Fire and Hamilton Paramedics responded and the victim was transported to the hospital. He was pronounced deceased just after 7:00 a.m.

Evidence at the scene has led investigators to believe the victim died from a targeted shooting. An autopsy is being conducted to confirm the cause of death.

At this time, police are not releasing the name of the victim pending next-of-kin notification.

Police are appealing to the public for any video captured on December 6 from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. A police presence will remain in the area as the forensic unit processes the scene and the ACTION Unit canvasses the neighbourhood for video and witnesses.
