Hamilton Police investigate ‘targeted’ shooting on West Mountain

Hamilton Police say they are investigating a ‘targetted’ shooting that injured a 26-year-old Hamilton man on the West Mountain, Sunday (Sept. 27) night.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m., Hamilton Police were called to the intersection of Garth Street and Limeridge Road West in response to several reports of gunshots.

The area was secured and processed as evidence confirming a shooting incident was gathered, police said in a press release issued Monday (Sept. 28).

A short time later, a man attended a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury believed to have been caused by a gunshot. His vehicle, which police say contained evidence to confirm involvement in a shooting incident, was seized.

Detectives from the Mountain Division Criminal Investigations Bureau continue to investigate and are asking residents in the area of Garth Street and Limeridge Road West, to check their video surveillance cameras for any suspicious activity and to contact police.

At this time, police say they believe the incident was targeted.
