An East Hamilton neighbourhood will see an increased police presence Wednesday (May 12) following an early morning shooting incident in the area.

Police said they were called to 10 St. Andrews Dr. in the area of Quigley Road and Greenhill Avenue around 2:30 a.m. to reports of gunshots.

When officers arrived on the scene, police said the area was secured and a search was launched to find anyone who may have been involved and to ascertain what took place.

It was determined that there was a shooting but that anyone involved had already fled the scene.

“There were no reported injuries to police and checks at local hospitals produced negative results,” police said in a press release.

“Although it is early in the investigation, police believe that the suspect or suspects were operating a dark-coloured vehicle.”

The incident is believed to have been targeted, police said, and they are asking residents in the area to check security cameras for any suspicious activity.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Ben Thibodeau or East End Detectives Office by calling 905-546-2907.
