Hamilton Police are investigating a shooting on Stoney Creek mountain that sent an 18-year-old man to hospital.

Police say that on Thursday (April 16) shortly before 9:30 p.m. they received reports of a shooting in the area of Candlewood Drive and Foxmeadow Drive in Upper Stoney Creek.

Information provided to police included people hearing the sound of gunshots followed by a brief disturbance. A short time later police were notified that a man showed up at a local hospital with an injury believed to have been caused by a firearm.

Detectives from the Division 20 Criminal Investigations Branch continue to investigate the incident, police say. Police believe at this time that the incident is likely targeted.

The victim, an 18-year-old Stoney Creek man, was treated at the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury, police say.

This is the city’s 14th shooting incident in 2020.

Police are looking for anyone that may have witnessed the incident and urge residents in the area of Candlewood Drive and Foxmeadow Drive to review footage from their home security cameras for any suspicious activity.
