Hamilton Police investigate overnight downtown shooting incident

Hamilton Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred Monday night (Feb. 8) in the city’s downtown.

A police presence is expected in the area of King Street and Grant Avenue throughout the day Tuesday as the investigation continues.

“No injuries were reported to the police and anyone with information is urged to contact investigators,” a police news release said.

Police said they were called shortly before 10:30 p.m. to the scene of the incident to reports of gunshots fired.

Upon arrival, officers immediately secured the area and searched for anyone involved but it appeared they had fled the scene.

Through continued investigation, police confirmed a shooting had occurred and they believe a black Honda Accord and a white Audi A4 sedan were involved.

The investigation has been taken over by the Central Station Criminal Investigation Branch and detectives are appealing to area residents to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity and to contact police.
