Hamilton Police have ID’d, apprehended suspect wanted in knife incident

Hamilton Police have arrested a 23-year-old local man in relation to an incident involving a knife. His matter will be brought before the courts on Saturday.

Hamilton Police have arrested a 23-year-old local man in relation to an incident involving a knife. His matter will be brought before the courts on Saturday.

On Friday, August 21, shortly before 11:30 a.m., Hamilton Police received information that a person matching the description of a man who had chased a group of teens while wielding a knife in June was in the area of Locke Street South and Chatham Street.

Officers immediately responded and the man was located near Hunter Street West and Richmond Street.

Through continued investigation, the 23-year-old man was confirmed to be the person involved in the incident. He was arrested without incident and taken into police custody.

Hamilton Police would like to thank everyone who assisted in the investigation.

The suspect is facing the following charges:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Fail to comply with release order
