Hamilton Police believed a male was assaulted, now say the injuries were self-inflicted

The Hamilton Police Service says stabbing injuries suffered by a 34-year-old man were “self-inflicted”. They originally believed it occurred during an assault.

The Hamilton Police Service says stabbing injuries suffered by a 34-year-old man were “self-inflicted”. They originally believed it occurred during an assault.

On Tuesday (Feb. 18), shortly before 10:30 p.m., Hamilton Police say they received information about an injured male who as in the area of King St E and Mountain Ave in Stoney Creek. Police believed the male was assaulted at a nearby bar, suffering “non-life threatening” injuries.

Through further investigation by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch, police say they’ve determined the injuries to the male were self-inflicted.
