Hamilton Police arrest local man in connection to series of gas station robberies

Hamilton Police say a local man has been arrested and charged in connection to a series of gas station robberies on the Mountain that took place earlier this month.

On Wednesday, May 20, shortly after 1:00 a.m., Hamilton Police say a man entered a gas station in the area of Stone Church Road East and Upper Gage.

The man reportedly approached the counter and made a demand for money and merchandise from the staff. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash the suspect fled, police say.

Then again on Friday, May 22, shortly before 2:00 a.m., a man entered a gas station located in the area of Upper James Street and Alderlea Avenue.

Police say he approached the counter and made a demand for money and merchandise from the staff. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash he fled.

Two days later, police say, the gas station was again robbed in the same fashion.

During the three robberies, the suspect was reportedly in possession of a knife, but no one was physically injured.

Following an investigation, Hamilton Police BEAR Unit detectives identified the man they believe was responsible for the robberies.

On Tuesday (May 26), detectives executed a warrant at a Hamilton residence and the suspect, 21-year-old Abdullah Hasan, was arrested and appeared at a bail hearing later that day.

The BEAR Unit says they have maintained carriage of this investigation and continue to review other incidents for any similarities.

Hasan has been charged with the following:

  • Robbery X 3
  • Robbery wearing disguise X 3
