Hamilton motorcyclist hospitalized following Jolley Cut crash

Hamilton Police say their Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate a collision that occurred on the Jolley Cut Tuesday night (May 19) that sent a motorcyclist to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say shortly after 7:15 p.m., a motorcycle travelling upbound on the Jolley Cut collided with a Toyota Corolla in the downbound lanes.

The rider, a 28-year-old man from Hamilton was operating a 2012 Honda motorcycle and the driver, a 63-year-old man was operating a 2009 Toyota Corolla.

At the time of the collision, police say the motorcycle crossed into the downbound lanes.

Hamilton Police and emergency service partners immediately responded to the collision. The rider was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment. His condition is currently listed as serious with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries.

The Jolley Cut was closed for several hours as officers processed the scene.

At this time, investigators have ruled out impairment and are still considering other contributing factors
