Bank teller’s call to police leads to arrest of three Hamilton men

Three Hamilton men will be appearing in court Thursday (Jan. 28) after they were arrested in a downtown robbery investigation the night prior.

At approximately 10 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 27), three males attended a downtown Hamilton shelter where they met a known male.

The 27-year-old victim was allegedly assaulted and was told further assault would take place unless the three men were paid an undisclosed amount of money.

“For several hours the victim was forced to attend locations throughout downtown to obtain the money,” according to the Hamilton Police Service.

At 3:30 p.m., the victim entered a bank located “near King St. W and James St. N.”

Police say the victim informed the bank teller of the situation and the police were contacted.

The suspects attended to flee, according to police, but the men were caught and arrested.

The victim’s injuries were considered minor.

The suspect’s names were not disclosed.

  • Robbery
  • Utter threats
  • Forcible confinement

Hamilton man, 26, charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000
  • Forcible confinement

Hamilton man, 31, charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Fail to comply probation X1
  • Forcible confinement
