Hamilton man wanted for Mountain break and enters arrested

Divisional Detectives say they are continuing the investigation with the potential of additional charges being laid.

Earlier this week, Hamilton Police identified Whalen as a suspect in a series of residential break and enters on the Mountain.

Whalen is believed to be responsible for two home break-ins in the Rexford Neighbourhood, where the suspect confronted the homeowners while armed with a knife.

These incidents occurred in the early morning hours of November 18, 2019, and the occupants were not injured.

Through further investigation, police linked the same suspect to three other break-ins that occurred on the Hamilton Mountain, between November 14 and 18, 2019.

In each of these incidents, no one was home at the time of the break-ins.

Whalen is scheduled to appear at the John Sopinka Courthouse on Saturday, November 30, 2019, to answer to several criminal charges.

Whalen is charged with the following:

  • Break and Enter with Intent x 3
  • Robbery x 2
  • Break and Enter Commit x 2
