A Hamilton man is celebrating a pretty significant windfall after a big lotto win.

Brandon Nytschyk of Ancaster anted up and went ‘all in’ to win the Poker Lotto All In jackpot worth $164,736.70 on September 15, 2020.

He also won $5,000 on the instant portion of his Poker Lotto play, and another $5 on the same ticket, bringing his total winnings to $169,741.70.

The 28-year-old operations manager said he loves playing Poker Lotto and tends to play when the jackpots are high.

“I was in the store and didn’t even clue into what had happened,” Nytschyk said, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his cheque.

“The clerk yelled, ‘It’s a royal flush!’ I was so shocked it took me a few hours to comprehend what happened.”

Nytschyk said he shared the good news with his dad right away.

“He was so excited for me!”

Nytschyk plans to invest his winnings and put a down payment on a house.

“I’m planning to treat myself to some travel when the time is right,” he said. “I’m young and this is the perfect time to win the lottery and be responsible about it.”

OLG is now accepting in-person prize claims by appointment only for customers with prizes of $1,000 or more who wish to claim at the OLG Prize Centre.

The winning ticket was purchased at Stoney Creek Shell on South Service Road in Stoney Creek.
