Police have charged a 32-year-old Hamilton man in connection to a blaze at a home in the north end of the city very early Tuesday (Jan. 5) morning.
Shortly after midnight, Hamilton Police were called to a residence in the area of Barton Street East and Stirton Street for an Assist Fire Department call.
While on the scene, a man was identified as the resident of the unit involved and through continued investigation, police say they learned he was responsible for the fire. He was placed under arrest and taken into custody.
There were no injuries reported to the police.
Damages to the property have been estimated at over $100,000.

The man is scheduled to appear in court later Tuesday and is facing a charge related to arson.
