Hamilton Man Charged Following Armed Dispensary Robbery

A 19-year-old Hamilton man is facing charges after allegedly discharging a firearm at an employee at an illegal cannabis dispensary in downtown Hamilton, police say.

A 19-year-old Hamilton man is facing charges after allegedly discharging a firearm at an employee at an illegal cannabis dispensary in downtown Hamilton, police say.

Hamilton police say that on Saturday, March 9, 2019, police were called to the scene of an alleged armed robbery at Cannabis Culture (275 King Street East).

Police allege that a 35-year-old male victim was injured after being shot by one of the suspects.

Police say the three suspects fled the scene in a waiting vehicle.

Officers arrived a short time later and located the victim at the rear of the business. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say detectives have identified one of the suspects. 

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, Prince Onyia was arrested without incident. 

The investigation is ongoing, as two suspects remain outstanding.

The accused has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery with a firearm and other firearm-related offences. 

He appeared in court on Sept. 18.
