Hamilton man charged after police locate weapons and stolen bikes

A Hamilton resident is facing charges after police say they seized stolen property valued at over $40,000.
A Hamilton resident is facing charges after police say they seized stolen property valued at over $40,000.
On Thursday, December 19, Hamilton Police’s HEAT Unit with assistance from the BEAR Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the city’s East End.
“Information to support the search warrant application was gathered during a two month long investigation into the thefts of high-end bicycles from both residential and commercial properties in the Ancaster, Aldershot and Dundas areas,” police say.
The following items were seized in the search:
- 26 Mountain bikes valued at over $40,000
- Bike parts including rims, tires, forks, handlebars and seats
- Rossignol skis
- Prohibited weapons
43 year old Hamilton man Jason Kane is charged with two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, two counts of possession contrary to order, possession of stolen property over $5000, and two counts of possession of stolen property under $5000.
“The investigation is ongoing with the potential of additional charges being brought forward in the future,” police add.
