Hamilton Police have arrested a local man in connection to a lengthy crime spree that involves several stolen cars and commercial break-ins throughout the city over a number of months.

In a release sent Thursday (Dec. 10), police say they believe the spree started on October 26, 2020, when a Pontiac Vibe was stolen in the East Hamilton. The next day, the car was used during a break-in at an East Mountain hair salon when a cash register was stolen, according to police.

The car was used again a few days later on Oct. 29 during a second break-in at a restaurant in Waterdown. Once again, cash was stolen from the cash register. The car was later recovered by Hamilton Police.

Then on November 14, 2020, a 2019 Volvo XC90, valued at $70,000 was stolen from a parking lot in Ancaster and on Nov. 16, a man was seen driving the car. Surveillance cameras allegedly captured the man exiting the vehicle in a parking lot and the vehicle was later recovered.

On December 4, 2020, a man visited a used car dealership in the East End when he is said to have entered an unlocked grey 2007 Lexus E350 which was owned by the dealership. The man was able to start the car and flee the dealership. The vehicle was valued at $9,000.

Later that same day, police say the man attended a lighting store on Rymal Road in the stolen Lexus and attempted to gain entry to the store but was confronted by the store owner and fled the area.

Then the same man is said to have broken into a gas station in Flamborough where the glass doors were smashed and the cash register and merchandise were stolen. The stolen Lexus was reported to have been involved in that incident as well.

The next day, on Dec. 5 in the early morning hours, the man attended another lighting store in Stoney Creek and smashed the front door. While inside, the man reportedly stole the cash register and fled in the stolen Lexus.

The man is said to have then continued on to a window installation business in Stoney Creek. Where he was confronted by the business owner on site. The man once again fled in the stolen Lexus, according to police.

Later that day, the suspect is said to have smashed the glass doors at a West Mountain variety store from which a cash register and other items were stolen. The stolen Lexus was seen fleeing that scene as well but the car was located and recovered by police on December 7, 2020.
