Hamilton Police say a 30-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested following at an East Mountain gas station where the suspect allegedly threatened to shoot his girlfriend.

Hamilton Police say a 30-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested following at an East Mountain gas station where the suspect allegedly threatened to shoot his girlfriend.

On Tuesday (August 4), shortly after 9:00 a.m. police were called to the Husky Gas Station on Limeridge Road East to reports of a man and woman arguing inside.

Police say they arrived and located a woman who expressed concern for her wellbeing after violent threats were made by her boyfriend.

The woman told police she ran to the gas station from her Limeridge Road residence seeking safety at the nearest public space after her boyfriend threatened to shoot her.

The man reportedly followed her to the gas bar with a long gun shoved down the front of his pants.

Police say they went to the couple’s residence and came upon the suspect exiting the front door.

The man did not comply with police directions and after a physical interaction, police say they deployed a conductive energy weapon (CEW) to bring him under control.

He was then placed under arrest. Police say they found ammunition in his pocket and a loaded 12-gauge shotgun inside the residence.

The suspect was arrested and brought down to central custody with his bail opposed.

The man now faces several charges in relation to the incident:

  • Utter Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Assault Level 1
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm/Weapon
  • Careless Use, Carry, Transport, Storage of Firearm, Weapon
  • Mischief Under $5000 (Damaging Property)
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Firearm or imitation – Use of during an offence
  • Careless Use, Carry, Transport, Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Ammunition
