A retired Hamilton bus driver says he started dancing when he realized he won tens of thousands of dollars in the lottery in May.

Hamilton’s Carlton Graham is celebrating after winning an Ontario 49 second prize worth $50,000 in the May 13, 2020 draw.

Graham matched five numbers plus the bonus number to win the prize. He also won an additional $750 on other Ontario 49 selections, bringing his total winnings to $50,750.

Graham, a 77-year-old retired bus driver, plays by using the numbers suggested from his horoscope. He says he discovered his win the morning after the draw.

“When my wife came home from the market, she saw me dancing on the front steps,” he said, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his cheque.

“She knew something was up my sleeve.”

The couple went to the store to validate the ticket.

“My wife kept giggling and laughing – we were so happy and excited,” he said.

The father and grandfather said he plans to help his granddaughter pay for her education.

“Her father, my son, passed away a year and a half ago and it means so much to me to do this for her,” he said.

“This feels good and excellent in my heart.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Best Buy Variety on Fennell Avenue in Hamilton.

The OLG Prize Centre in Toronto has resumed in-person prize claims for winning-ticket holders of $50,000 or more by appointment only.
