A coalition of community groups in Hamilton is holding a two-day virtual anti-hate summit this month.

Listen Learn Act: An Anti-Hate Community Summit is being organized by No Hate In The Hammer and is scheduled to take place on May 19 and 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event features dozens of speakers, including local and international community leaders, as well as young activists and academics.

“This virtual gathering is for community members who know they want to take an active role in anti-racism and anti-oppression work,” reads the event page. “Listen and learn along with us. Help define the collective actions necessary to build an inclusive city: A Hamilton where everyone is free from all forms of hate.”

Topics on the program schedule include Hamilton’s Community Response to Hate, The Threat of Organized Hate in Canada and the U.S., Children’s Program: Let’s Talk Kindness, and How Do You Have Tough Conversations With Your Circles?.

Thanks to funding from the US Embassy, the event is free and requires registration at nohateinthehammer.ca/register.

The last day to register is May 17.
