Whether you love their music or you’re not the biggest fan, you’ve gotta give them credit — Arkells has been responsible for a number of heartwarming stories to come out of this pandemic.

Earlier this afternoon (Saturday, May 2), Twitter user Jill Miller‏ tweeted at the Hamilton rock group to let them know how a young resident was creatively raising money for their local food bank: By playing guitar on the street to get donations.

Less than half an hour later, Arkells responded to Miller saying that they would personally contribute to the cause with a $100 donation.

Back in March, the band started offering live tutorials via Instagram to teach budding musicians some of their songbook, in an effort to reach out to fans and promote safe social distancing during the COVID-19 crisis.

“Spread the word!” Arkells said in an Instagram post. “Let’s jam together (in our respective bedrooms).”

Arkells vocalist and guitarist Max Kerman later posted a Youtube video in which he gave a shoutout to the city’s public health workers to thank them for their work during the pandemic.

“I know there’s a lot of people that are relying on you, asking a lot of questions, and I know you have gone above and beyond,” Kerman said.
