Environment Canada issued a “freezing drizzle” advisory for Hamilton on Tuesday (Jan. 12).
“Multiple reports of icy roads and sidewalks have been received,” said the agency. “Patchy freezing drizzle may be mixed with light snow at times, and is expected to continue this afternoon and tonight.”
There is also a chance of freezing drizzle Wednesday morning.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
Making the surfaces even more dangerous is the fact that freezing drizzle can produce thin, hard-to-detect layers of ice.
