Starting Tuesday (Nov. 24), free parking is available in locations throughout the city where fees are usually required until December 24th.

In an effort to encourage residents to shop local this holiday season, the City of Hamilton announced that free parking will be available at various Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) across the city.

Hamilton’s BIAs are home to some of the city’s locally owned and independent small businesses who have been hit particularly hard this year due to COVID-19.

The free parking will come in especially handy for those doing curbside pick-up, which most Hamilton businesses are offering this year.

On Tuesday, two-hour free parking will start being available in the following BIAs until Christmas Eve:

  • Ancaster BIA
  • Barton Village BIA
  • Concession Street BIA
  • Hamilton Downtown (West Avenue to Queen, Hunter to Cannon, also James Street from Charlton to Barton)
  • International Village BIA
  • King Street West BIA
  • Ottawa Street BIA

On December 1st, the following BIAs will have free parking until Dec. 31:

  • Locke Street BIA
  • Westdale Village BIA

The Dundas BIA will have free parking in its municipal parking lots in the weeks leading up to Christmas as well.
