Hamilton Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that sent a five-year-old girl to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, shortly before 2:00 a.m., a 32-year-old woman from Brampton was driving a black 2016 Mercedes-Benz sedan westbound on the South Service Road towards Centennial Parkway North in Hamilton, when she lost control of the car causing it to strike a traffic light pole in the centre median.

Hamilton Police, Fire and Paramedics were called to the scene and a five-year-old girl who was a passenger in the car was transported to the hospital where it was determined that she had suffered a life-threatening injury. She currently remains in stable condition.

The investigation remains ongoing and vehicle speed has not been ruled out. At this time, police say they do believe impairment was not a contributing factor in this collision.
