A fiery Hamilton company is being featured in the latest season of a wildly popular YouTube series that airs later this month.
A fiery Hamilton company is being featured in the latest season of a wildly popular YouTube series that airs later this month.
‘Hot Ones’ has added Hamilton’s own Steel City Sauce Co. to its lineup of hot sauces for season 12.
The show, hosted by hot sauce aficionado Sean Evans, features interviews with celebrities while Evans and his guest dine on chicken wings that are doused in progressively spicier sauces.
Some of the guests over the show’s five-year run so far have included Will Ferrell, Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, Paul Rudd, Justin Timberlake, a number of celebrity chefs and other big names.

In a video posted to YouTube last week, filmed from Evans’ home, the host shared a glimpse of what season 12’s guests will be consuming.
The lineup features some of the show’s favourite ‘old faithful’ sauces with some new ones thrown in to add a little spice, so to speak.
Steel City’s Jade Jaguar, a Jalapeno lime sauce, is featured in the No. 2 spot this season.
“For those of you who watch the show, you know that I have a soft spot for Canadian hot sauces,” Evans says while introducing Jade Jaguar.
“This one is right out of Ontario. It features a rich oil base that sets the stage for a zesty trio of Jalapeno, garlic and lime. Delicious.”
On their website, Steel City says the Jade Jaguar is among their milder sauces.
“This Jalapeño lime sauce is our mildest sauce perfect for Tacos, Dips and marinades,” they say. “It has a slight creeping heat with a nice zip of lime.”
Steel City is an artisanal hot sauce company that launched in 2015 and that prides itself on using locally sourced and organic ingredients.
In their short time, Steel City’s sauces have made it to the shelves of dozens of retailers across the GTA and a number of local shops. Their online shop has an international reach.
They are a constant presence at local makers’ markets and festivals and they’ve won several awards at trade expos over the years.
And now, this grassroots, made-in-Hamilton company will be featured on the lips of major celebrities and prominently on a show with a following numbering in the millions and.
Last week, Steel City shared the news via Instagram that they would be featured in the new season of Hot Ones.
“It’s our honour to share with you that we are a part of Hot Ones Season 12,” the post says.
“We are beyond excited to watch along and hope you do too.”
Season 12 of Hot Ones airs on Thursday (June 25).
