Early morning blaze closes popular Hamilton candy store ‘until further notice’

A popular Hamilton candy store is closed until further notice after a fire destroyed a portion of its storefront early Monday morning (May 17).
Candi Werx announced on social media that they would be closed Monday and perhaps several more days following the blaze shortly before 1:30 a.m. at their shop located at 605 Concession Street.
“We ‘think’ a cigarette butt may have started it but we do not have further details,” Candi Werx said in their post.
“We will be closed until further notice but will update as we have more information.”
Several Hamilton Fire Department crews were called to the area to reports of a ‘rubbish fire’ which was eventually updated to ‘structure fire’ early Monday morning.

No injuries were reported but there is significant damage to the front of the store.
Candi Werx moved to its current location from its longtime spot at 554 Concession earlier this year.
