Drug probe on Hamilton mountain leads to five arrests

Proactive investigations by Hamilton Police have resulted in the seizure of illicit drugs, cash and a replica firearm.

Proactive investigations by Hamilton Police have resulted in the seizure of illicit drugs, cash and a replica firearm.

Police say that on Wednesday (June 3), members of the Hamilton Police Service Mountain HEAT Unit with assistance from Hamilton and Halton Police Tactical Units, attended residences in the area of Upper Gage Avenue and the Lincoln Alexander Parkway and Upper Ottawa Street and Mohawk Road East to execute the search warrants.

During the investigation, police seized drugs, cash, a replica firearm and drug paraphernalia from the residences, police said in a press release. Two outstanding arrest warrants were also executed.

Three adults and one teen were arrested at the residence located in the area of Upper Gage Avenue and the Lincoln Alexander Parkway.

One man was held for a bail hearing later that day while the other parties were released from police custody with scheduled future court dates.

During the search, police seized:

  • 15 pounds of dried cannabis with an estimated value of $60,000
  • Small quantity of oxycodone pills

Police have charged a 17-year-old man from Hamilton with:

  • Distribute over 30 grams of cannabis X3
  • Breach of probation

Yvonne Hamilton, 48, from Hamilton, faces the following charges:

  • Possession of controlled substance – oxycodone

Pedro Tavares, 42, of Hamilton is charged with:

  • Possession of controlled substance – fentanyl
  • Fail to comply undertaking X3
  • Outstanding warrants executed X2

Juliana Tavares, 35, of Hamilton faces the following charges:

  • Possession of controlled substance – fentanyl
  • Outstanding warrant executed

Police say one woman was arrested at the residence located in the area of Upper Ottawa Street and Mohawk Road East. She was held for a bail hearing later that day.

In that search police seized:

  • Fentanyl, approximately valued at $108,000
  • Cocaine, approximately valued at $13,800
  • Heroin, approximately valued at $3,600
  • $1,600 in cash proceeds
  • Replica Glock style firearm

Michelle Bryant, 49, from Hamilton is charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking – Heroin
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession proceeds of crime under $5000
  • Fail to comply undertaking X3
