Hamilton Police have identified two drivers who failed to stop for a school bus thanks to dashcam footage from another motorist.

Police stated that on Friday, September 6, shortly after 3:00 pm, a Hamilton resident was travelling along Rymal Road East and Westlawn Drive when he stopped for a school bus that had activated its lights and extended its stop sign.
The driver observed two vehicles maneuver around him and pass the school bus. The entire incident was captured on his dash camera. He then reported the incident to the police and provided the video as evidence.
On Saturday, September 7, the two female drivers from Hamilton (a 59-year-old and a 60-year-old) were issued provincial offence tickets for failing to stop for a school bus.

These offences can lead to penalties that can include up to a $2000 fine and six demerit points.
Hamilton Police continue to remind drivers to stop when approaching a school bus with its lights activated and stop sign extended.
