As of Tuesday (August 11), the city of Hamilton is reporting that there have been 921 cases of COVID-19 in the community since it was first reported here in March.

This is three new cases since the count was updated on Monday. Data shows that over the weekend, there were 10 new cases reported.

There are currently 31 active cases of the virus in the community at the moments and the virus can be blamed for 45 deaths in the city.

There are a total of 63 long-term care and retirement homes in the City of Hamilton of which none are reporting active outbreaks of the virus at this time.

Approximately 92 per cent of Hamilton’s overall coronavirus cases — 845 to be exact — have been resolved to date.

Meanwhile, Ontario is reporting 33 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday — the lowest daily case count in months — but the province’s health minister attributes part of the drop to “routine data clean-up.”

Christine Elliott said Toronto Public Health removed 21 cases, including some duplicates, from its total.

She said an additional 75 cases have been resolved.

Sixty people are in hospital with COVID-19, with 21 of them in intensive care and 12 on ventilators.

The province’s total case count is now 40,194, with 36,456 marked as resolved and 2,786 deaths.

The province said it processed 21,581 tests over the last 24 hours.
