Couple facing drug and weapon charges after police raid in Hamilton and Burlington

An Ancaster couple is facing multiple drug and weapons possession charges after Hamilton Police Service’s Vice and Drug officers raided a home and two storage lockers on Apr 30.

An Ancaster couple is facing multiple drug and weapons possession charges after Hamilton Police Service’s Vice and Drug officers raided a home and two storage lockers on Apr 30.

Police say an investigation into an Ancaster man for drug activity began in late March. It resulted in his arrest and “a large seizure” of drugs and cash. The man was also arrested for a COVID-19 related offense that police called a “failure to comply with an order given during a declared emergency”.

Police said that further investigation into the man led to an Apr 30 raid at a home in the area of Golf Links Rd and Meadowlands Blvd, as well as storage units in the area of Stone Church and Dartnall Road, and Appleby Line and Mainway in Burlington.

The man’s vehicles were also searched.

Police say the additional searches resulted in the seizure of drugs, firearms, ammunition, and a large amount of cash.

Nickolas and Marija Deschenes were arrested and taken into police custody.

ITEMS SEIZED

  • 2 handguns: a Hi-point semi-automatic handgun with ammunition and a Hopkins and Allen revolver both located in a storage locker
  • Cocaine valued at $11,000.00
  • $166,120 in Canadian currency located in a duffle bag in one of the storage lockers.
  • $4450 in Canadian currency located at the Ancaster residence.
  • Large compression tool used to compress cocaine and 3 digital scales coated in cocaine located in a storage locker.

Nicholas Deschenes, 29, from Ancaster

  • Several firearm-related charges
  • Possession of a controlled substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000
  • Possession of proceeds of crime over $5000
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Fail to comply with release orders X11

CHARGED

Marija Deschenes, 28, from Ancaster

  • Several firearm-related charges
  • Possession of a controlled substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000
  • Possession of proceeds of crime over $5000

Nickolas Deschenes made a bail court appearance on May 2, to answer to several charges.

Marija Deschenes is scheduled to appear in court on July 8.
